NEUTERED CHRISTIANITY IN AMERICA

Chapter 4
Comfortable vs Courageous

Comfort is the enemy of courage. Our culture pushes us toward safety and ease, and that mentality often creeps into our faith. We pray small prayers, avoid risks, and settle for a version of Christianity that never challenges us. Comfort may feel good, but it never changes the world.

The early church grew in the face of persecution because believers lived with courage. Courage does not mean the absence of fear. It means trusting God even when fear is present. Courage chooses obedience when it is costly, boldness when it is unpopular, and faith when it is uncomfortable.

If we want to see God move in powerful ways, we cannot cling to comfort. The Bible reminds us that courage is the soil where faith grows strong. Comfortable Christianity hides in the shadows, but courageous Christianity steps into the light.
