Recruiting
Great teams start with finding the right people. That means looking beyond the résumé, experience, or how well someone interviews. Before you hire anyone, you need to know what you’re looking for and what qualities will give that person the best chance to succeed.
That starts with W.I.T.: Want, Integrity, and Talent. Do they have the desire to succeed? Do they have the integrity to do things the right way? And do they have the talent to perform at a high level? Experience can be gained, skills can be sharpened, and knowledge can be taught. But without the right foundation, none of those things will turn the wrong person into the right one.
Finding that person requires looking beneath the surface. It means asking better questions, paying attention to what someone has actually done, recognizing potential instead of simply counting years of experience, and making sure their strengths fit the position you’re asking them to fill. Recruiting isn’t about finding someone to fill a seat. It’s about finding the right person for the right seat.
